I've started my cardie project and nearly failed on the first instruction! I had to learn how to do a provisional cast on, turns out there are many many way of doing a prov cast on. I went for the cast on with a knitting needle and a crochet hook as I just couldn't figure out the other methods it worked and now I know for future reference how to do it.
It is knitting up beautifully, the wool is incredibly soft. It may take a while as I'm using 3.75mm needles but it'll be worth it.

Manu by Kate Davies
I found this pattern on Ravelry and decided there and then I was going to try my hand at making it. I have never attempted icord buttonholes or stitch pleats, and I would usually run a mile at the mere mention of charts as my patterns have been pretty simple up to this point, but what is the worst that can happen, right?! also I really like the cardie, I wear cardies ALL the time so I'm going for it.
Wool choice, as recommended on the pattern but in a beautiful golden tansy colour. natural dyed Shilasdair, it is a beautiful blend of 20% cashmere 40% angora and 40% lambswool British Merino.
Wish me luck!

Army green cowl finished
I decided to finish Dave's army green cowl before I start my next project. It is a smaller version of the charcoal grey which I'm pleased I did as I just had enough wool!
He loves it, we are ready for the Autumn.
I'm super excited about my next project. I've bought a pattern from ravelry for an amazing cardie. It involves charts and shaping which I think and hope I'm ready for. I'll post soon with more details.
