Two Hats One Weekend...................

I finished my cotton hat on Friday Morning. It's nice but I was little disappointed with it only because I'm undecided if cotton is actually that good for making hats?! Also the hat is quite short, well I suppose standard size I've just been used to bulky baggy hats as of late:)
As the weekend progressed it transpired one hat was not enough for me. I have fab wool I recieved from my friend Jill at Christmas so I decided it was time to use it! I LOVE this hat. the wool knits up so well and the size, colour and shape are just perfect:) I think I'll be wearing it alot. I also have lots left so I can make something else.

Yellow Hat

I've been neglecting my knitting recently so I decided this weekend I would start something simple to get back on track. I was lucky enough to thrift some great knitting patterns from the 60's and 70's in our local house clearance store last year. One of which is a great  knitted yellow hat. I love old knitting patterns you can pick them up for 20p each, sometimes I just buy them because I love the pictures. I hope to have this finished by the end of the week. I'm using an organic hand dyed cotton by Blue Sky Alpacas with sizes 6mm and 5mm needles. I'll post pics when it's finished:)

wooley Blanket

I eventually started the wooley blanket project. I had attempted this pattern twice before but got distracted and had to frog it each time! I put it away as it just wasn't working for me.
Last night I had a feeling it would work and it did.

I'm half way through the first colour of the pattern which is a good start. I'm starting with a charcoal grey then I'll change to purple, then green. The wool is fab a mongolian aran held double throughout. I'll keep posting as it grows.

Making Marmalade

I recieved the best gift ever for Christmas , a preserving pot with all the accessories needed to make yummy preserves.
I plan to go foraging later in Spring/Summer so I can make LOADS of chutneys, jams, jellies etc...I have a group of people interested in going, all of whom know different places to go to get different fruits, berries and flowers:)
In the meantime I was sent an email from my friend reminding me it was marmalade season, seville oranges are only about for a few weeks so I started early so if any mistakes were made in the 1st batch I could try again. In fact in my case it took three time. Result, perfect marmalade (well perfect to me).

New recruits for the Shelf of Kool

I found this amazing 50's tea set in our local junk shop. I love it. I've seen random cups in this pattern before in other shops but never a full 6 piece set. It includes 6 cups, 6 saucers, 6 side plates a cake plate, a sugar bowl and a jug. The colours are fab I'm just glad I had enough room to fit it all on the shelf. I've ran out of room now though, I may need another shelf built:)

Projects planned for the weekend...............

I have casted on for my blanket project and completed the first row all 96 stitches, it's a start:)
I found really kool polystyrene hearts in a craft store last Saturday so I plan to decorate them  by wrapping wool around them and some other trimmings I found. I reckon they will look kool on my wall.
It's Thursday already so only a day to go.
I love this doggie jumper.
